
Ryan Suffern
Ryan Suffern is a Grammy-winning and Emmy-nominated filmmaker with over 15 years of experience in documentary storytelling. His work spans music, sports and social issues, consistently grounded in character-driven narratives with a strong emotional core. Suffern is the co-director of Built To Move (Mountainfilm 2026), alongside Mallory Weggemann and Jay Snyder. His Mountainfilm history includes editing the award-winning documentary features Right To Play (Mountainfilm 2012), directed by Frank Marshall for ESPN Films, and Bidder 70 (Mountainfilm 2012), the story of Tim DeChristopher’s defiant act of civil disobedience. Suffern’s first director credit was Running Blind (Mountainfilm 2013). He later directed the award-winning Finding Oscar, executive produced by Steven Spielberg, which chronicles the search for justice in the devastating case of the Dos Erres massacre in Guatemala. As a producer, his Mountainfilm credits include Satan & Adam (Mountainfilm 2018). He also co-directed Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story, which won the Grammy Award for Best Music Film, and his producing credits include The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, Omoiyari: A Song Film by Kishi Bashi and Satan & Adam, among many others.
