Robert Gourley

Robert Gourley is a director, cinematographer and editor based in Los Angeles, who specializes in stories of how people interact with the environment. His short film, Fäviken's Last Suppers (2019), for instance, charts the end of an exceptional small-town restaurant in Sweden and the chef’s attempts to honor his staff while closing. His film Bear Whisper (Mountainfilm 2020) examines Mammoth, California’s explosion of black bears in recent years and their difficult decision to cull the population. A North Carolina native with a background in both documentary film and photojournalism, Gourley’s work has been recognized by the Hearst Journalism Awards and the Los Angeles Press Club.
