Renan Ozturk
Renan Ozturk began his career as an expedition climber and landscape artist and now pours his heart into filmmaking and photojournalism, telling stories for National Geographic and as part of the Sony Artisan team. He was both a cinematographer and subject for the feature documentary Meru (Mountainfilm 2025), which won the 2015 Audience Award at Sundance, and a cinematographer and climbing director for Sherpa, which screened at TIFF and Telluride.
Ozturk is the director of Good Luck, Kid (Mountainfilm 2026). He has sourced inspiration and friendship from the Mountainfilm community for decades and is always happy to call the festival home. His films include El Sendero Luminoso (Mountainfilm 2014), Down to Nothing (Mountainfilm 2015), Denali's Raven (Mountainfilm 2017), Life Coach and Mothered by Mountains (both Mountainfilm 2018). Alongside Taylor Rees, he co-directed The Ghosts Above and directed Lost on Everest (both Mountainfilm 2020). Ozturk co-directed The Sanctity of Space (Mountainfilm 2022) with Freddie Wilkinson.
