Nicole Gormley

Nicole Gormley is a documentary filmmaker, photographer and ocean advocate whose central aim is to tell stories that inspire people to rethink our relationship to the natural world. Approaching projects from the lens of shared human experience, she uses storytelling as a tool to increase empathy and drive impact. Gormley has produced projects for several of the world’s leading media outlets, including Netflix’s Emmy-nominated series Ugly Delicious and dozens of international expeditions for brands and networks. Her directing collaborations with Patagonia Films include the award-winning short films Lessons From Jeju, Monster in Our Closet and Daughter of the Sea (Mountainfilm 2023). She recently won Tribeca’s Albert Maysles Award for best new documentary director for her first feature-length film Searching for Amani, and she directed Sea Country, which will screen at Mountainfilm 2025.
