
Matthew Hashiguchi
Matthew Hashiguchi is not just a documentary filmmaker, but also an educator, serving as an assistant professor in multimedia film & production at Georgia Southern University. His documentary work focuses on uncovering the diverse experiences, identities and cultures of American society. His first feature-length documentary, Good Luck Soup, received a 2016 Documentary Fund Award from the Center for Asian American Media and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Weaving technology into the impact of his film, Good Luck Soup also features a web-based, interactive documentary and a virtual reality documentary. Hashiguchi’s previous films include The Lower 9 and People Aren’t All Bad, which was a finalist for Smithsonian Magazine’s 2014 In Motion Video Contest.
