
Ken Bailey
For over 40 years, Ken Bailey has worked in the film and digital video industries, creating feature films, documentaries, television commercials and public service announcements. His television projects have aired on National Geographic, ABC Sports, Hallmark Channel and the Travel Channel. He has helped produce films that have screened at Sundance, Berlin, New York and Venice Film Festivals, and in theaters. Gravity Never Sleeps, Bailey’s first film, had its world premiere at Mountainfilm in 1982 and opened the doors to working with David Breashears on the first American NE Ridge Everest Expedition in 1986 and the film Mystery of Mallory & Irvine. Over the next 30 years, Bailey worked on numerous other award-winning environmental, cultural, ethnographic and exploratory films. He has been instrumental in building documentary and feature film production companies in New York City, Boulder, Colorado, Minneapolis and Telluride, Colorado. Bailey also directed Lids on Kids (Mountainfilm 2019). He is the director of The Mountain Ark (Mountainfilm 2026). He founded PSAProject.org, advancing public safety, health and education through impactful storytelling. He is especially known for capturing avalanches and promoting skier safety PSAs, and is a passionate mountain advocate.
