
Katrin York
Katrin York is an award-winning filmmaker based in Hawaii and Alaska. Born in Siberia and trained in film and performance in Los Angeles, she creates visually-driven stories from remote and untamed places, from Africa to the Arctic. With a background in both narrative and nonfiction, York brings a cinematic eye and emotional depth to documentary filmmaking. She’s collaborated with conservation groups like Sea Shepherd and directed commercial work for leading outdoor brands. Her film, Girls Riding High (Mountainfilm 2025), follows a teen-led bike trip through Alaska, exploring how nature and adventure can help address youth addiction and mental health challenges.
