Justin Brice Guariglia

Climate change is speeding up geologic time. Glaciers are calving; sea ice is melting; oceans are rising; and photographer Justin Brice Guariglia is there to capture it all. Through a 2015 collaboration with NASA, Guariglia shot aerial landscape photos of Greenland’s melting ice as part of a project to present evidence of climate change to the masses. He will continue to document the project through 2020. The Brooklyn, New York-based artist works at the nexus of painting, printmaking, photography and sculpture to explore humans’ relationship to ecology. Guariglia uses his trademarked, multilayered, plasticene printing process to create large-scale, durable works that could very well last longer than the glaciers they depict.
