Julián Trejo Bax

Julián Trejo Bax is a Mexican-Belgian documentary filmmaker and visual journalist based in Mexico City and Chicago. A DePaul University graduate (‘23), he currently works as a video journalist for the Associated Press covering climate-related stories in Mexico and the Midwest. Bax specializes in stories related to climate change, migration and social movements. Inspired by the Monarch butterfly, he hopes to use the power of storytelling as a means to connect experiences across North America. Bax is the director of Sueños de una Monarca (Dreams of a Monarch) (Mountainfilm 2026).
