Geoff Tabin

Geoff Tabin is a rare mix of adventurer and humanitarian whose accomplishments span summiting the Seven Summits to curing preventable blindness in hundreds of people. The accomplished mountaineer was inspired to battle blindness after a Mt. Everest expedition where he came across a Dutch team performing surgery on a woman. The graduate of Yale, Oxford and Harvard Medical School went on to devote his life to the cause through The John A. Moran Eye Center and Himalayan Cataract Project. Today, he is a leader in both the national and international ophthalmic community and serves as a professor of ophthalmology at the University of Utah. He also spends a considerable part of the year working in the Himalayas and in Africa. He is the subject of Duk County, a film about his work in South Sudan.
