Dillon Osleger

Dillon Osleger is a geoscientist, professional trail builder, public lands policy analyst, and author of Trail Work (Heyday Books, 2026). Dillon's work focuses on the invisible infrastructure of the American West, from snow science to trail restoration to reforestation. A leading voice in public lands advocacy, his projects have highlighted the intersectional nature of trails, climate, history, place, and conservation. Dillon's work has appeared as both dozens of miles worth of trail across the west, as well as in the pages of High Country News, Outside Magazine, Alta Journal, Mountain Gazette, and Earth & Planetary Science letters. His writing has received praise from Bill McKibben, Jason Roberts, Robert Moor, Marcia Bjornerud, and Rick Ridgeway, amongst others. When not writing or toiling away on trail, Dillon can be found moonlighting as a professional mountain bike athlete.
