Deia Schlosberg

Deia Schlosberg made national news in October 2016 when she was arrested and charged with 45 years worth of felonies for filming an activist who was shutting down the Keystone Pipeline during a protest in North Dakota. But that has not stopped her from highlighting human rights, climate change and other controversial issues in her films. Schlosberg worked as a graphic designer, an educator, a field scientist and a wilderness therapist before taking off on a 7,800-mile trek across the spine of the Andes, a trip which helped her to win a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year award. She has worked on films like Backyard and How to Let Go of the World and Love All the Things Climate Can’t Change (Mountainfilm 2016). Scholsberg was a speaker at Mountainfilm 2017 and now brings us her latest feature film, The Story of Plastic (Mountainfilm 2020).
