Cedar Wright

Cedar Wright is a professional climber, filmmaker and musician who enjoys climbing rocks of all sizes, making movies, painting, setting up daunting slacklines, jumping between towers, traveling the world and filming friends hanging off rocks. The North Face-sponsored athlete is an accomplished free soloist, speed climber and free climber who has put up impressive routes from Yosemite National Park to Pakistan. He has filmed for National Geographic and written articles for Outside magazine. He has also proven adept at creating funny and entertaining climbing films. With good friend Alex Honnold, Wright made the hilarious films Sufferfest (Mountainfilm 2014) and Sufferfest 2: Desert Alpine, AKA 34 pieces of Choss and 5 Horrendous Life Experiences (Mountainfilm 2015). After Wright picked up paragliding as a hobby, the world got Fledglings (Mountainfilm 2016). In lending a hand and a lens to up-and-coming climbers, he directed Safety Third (Mountainfilm 2017), a film about Brad Gobright, one of the best and boldest free solo climbers in the sport — who nobody has ever heard of. Stumped (Mountainfilm 2018) follows climber Maureen Beck. His newest film, Queen Maud Land (Mountainfilm 2019), follows a team of elite climbers as they tackle the frozen walls of Antarctica.
