
Carrie McCarthy
Carrie McCarthy is co-director of Mountain Roots (Mountainfilm 2025) and a scientist-turned-filmmaker whose path into documentary storytelling began as a scientific consultant on films. Since 2018, she has run Burning Torch Productions with Mark Pedri, producing and directing character-driven short and feature documentaries. Her films have screened at festivals around the world and on national television. McCarthy is also an experienced impact producer — most recently leading a 65-city impact campaign for her film Dear Sirs, spanning four countries and partnering with U.S. embassies, national NGOs, state agencies and local advocacy groups. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Southern California.
