Mountainfilm nixes capacity restrictions at free outdoor venues, adds more seating thanks to new public health orders
New town and county mandates allow Mountainfilm in Telluride to ease capacity limits
After being one of the first local festivals to have to rethink everything in 2020, Mountainfilm is now one of the first to benefit from the new, relaxed safety mandates. In response to updated San Miguel County and Town of Telluride public health orders, Mountainfilm in Telluride is cautiously removing capacity restrictions at outdoor theaters and adding more seating to partially outdoor theaters.
Under the new guidelines, the outdoor venues — Base Camp (Town Park) and Lawson Hill Fields — have removed capacity restrictions and mask and social distancing requirements completely. However, if you use the restroom, you will need to wear a mask, and we ask that you give your neighbors a little extra space. Films at outdoor venues are free and kick off at 8:30 p.m. nightly.
At the partially outdoor Transfer Warehouse theater, seating has been added and additional tickets have been released. Masks are required while waiting in the reservation and stand-by lines outside. Once you are inside, you may remove your mask if you feel comfortable doing so. All attendees must sign a waiver and fill out a contact tracing form.
Meanwhile, at Mountainfilm in Telluride’s indoor venues — High Camp (Telluride Conference Center) and Palm Theatre — stringent COVID safety measures remain. Masks are still required and must be worn at all times (including outside in reservation and stand-by lines). Capacity is still limited, six feet of distance is required and a waiver and contact tracing form must be completed.
While Mountainfilm in Telluride will be noticeably smaller than years past, advance tickets for most programs are still available. If you didn't get an advance ticket – or prefer to fly by the seat of your pants – a percentage of theater seating will be available to attendees via the first-come, first-served stand-by line.
No matter how you plan out your weekend, we ask that you remain respectful, kind and aware of those around you. If you’re experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, feeling sick, have a fever or have been exposed to anyone who is confirmed or presumed to be COVID-19 positive within the last 14 days, you will not be permitted to attend and will be issued a refund.
Mountainfilm in Telluride runs over Memorial Day weekend, May 28–31. Tickets are still available, cost $20 per program and are first come, first served. Following the in-person festival, Mountainfilm Online kicks off — May 31–June 6. Passes to Mountainfilm Online start at $150 and include a week of access to 2021 films and speakers.
