Erika Nelson, Lucas artist, is heading out to L.A. for a taping of Conan O'Brian's new show "CONAN". The air date is set for December 22nd, and will air on TBS (check your local listing for channel) at 11 p.m. (10 p.m. Central). Erika attended Mountainfilm in 2010 as a featured gallery artist.
Erika was contacted in early October by a producer for the show, after he did a search on "World's Largest" and found the World's Largest Things website (www.WorldsLargestThings.com). After a few hour-long phone interviews, Erika and the producer worked up a pitch for Conan, with some of the best stories about World's Largest Things, and accompanying images and video. In early November, Erika got the news that the show was a 'GO!'. From there, more images and story-writing flew through the email communication lines, narrowing down the actual World's Smallest Versions that would make the final cut. The format will most likely be a table display, with Erika leading Conan through some of the WSVs and telling some of the more offbeat stories behind them. The daily-driver Art Car "Scout" may also be a part of the show, either on-stage or via remote from the parking lot. Erika will drive out in the next few weeks for the December 22nd taping and air date.
Erika is an independent artist and educator, working and living in Lucas, Kansas' Quirky Capital. Her original "World's Largest Collection of the World's Smallest Versions of the World's Largest Things" mobile museum can be seen at the Home Base, just South of the historic Garden of Eden, and you'll often see her driving around in the smaller Art Car "Scout", which sports illuminated galloping ponies in the back, dinosaurs melting into prehistoric tarpits along the hood and roof, and astroturf flames circling a mural of Outsider Art Environments and Roadside Attractions along the side. ***** For more info, contact: Erika Nelson, World's Largest Things Inc., email@example.com, 785-525-6377 (w), 785-760-0826 (c)
