MountainSummit: Mountainfilm in Aspen, August 25-28, 2011

On Thursday August 28, 2011, we'll kick off the third annual MountainSummit: Mountainfilm in Aspen, a unique collaboration that we have with the Wheeler Opera House.

"MountainSummit is the Wheeler’s staff’s favorite event of the year – we get to not only host some of the greatest thinkers and doers on the planet, but we also get to hang with them, laugh with them, and receive far more insight on how to actually help change the world for the better than at any other festival we know of, all thanks to Mountainfilm. It’s our finest creative partnership, and the reason why this festival has caught fire with Aspenites and many others from all over Colorado – and beyond!"

-Wheeler Opera House Executive Director Gram Slaton

We're excited to bring a variety of films and speakers to the event, showcasing some of the great stuff we saw earlier this year here in Telluride.

"To be able to bring our festival to Aspen has been a real pleasure for the Mountainfilm team. We have been thrilled to not only work with the outstanding staff at the Wheeler Opera House but we have also been deeply gratified to see how the programming has taken hold in Aspen. We tour Mountainfilm all over the world but Aspen and the Wheeler have quickly become one of the most dynamic and exciting venues for our programming and we look forward to continuing this very special partnership.

This year should be particularly exciting with a great mix of films including our Audience Award Winner, Happy, Shakespeare High and one of the most compelling adventure films we have screened recently in Kadoma. Our special guests should also be outstanding with Dr. Geoff Tabin coming to town to talk about his work fixing people's eyes, along with Dan Austin of 88 Bikes and a lot of other outstanding programming."

-Mountainfilm Festival Director David Holbrooke

Among others, we'll be screening Mountainfilm 2011 favorites Kadoma, Truck Farm, Happy and Shakespeare High. You'll also get coffee talks, Q&As and even a couple of free screenings. Check out the Wheeler Opera house MountainSummit page for ticket info and screening times.
