Overview

Every year, children take the stage at the Oakland MLK Oratorical Fest to perform poetry and speeches, sharing their thoughts and passions with the world. It’s a 40-year tradition that’s inspired by the legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Produced by Emmy-winners Amy Schatz and Diane Kolyer, this uplifting documentary follows students from pre-K through 12th grade as they prepare for the public speaking competition. As the kids find their voice, they connect with King’s iconic speech on a personal level: We are the dream.
