Overview

Born into a family of climbers in the stunning Haute-Savoie region of France’s eastern Alps, Julia Chanourdie learned to climb almost as soon as she learned to walk. Winning her first competition at age eight, she has become a notable international competition climber. Less than eight months after her first successful 5.15a ascent in Saint Legére du Ventoux, Chanourdie set her sights on the 5.15b route “Eagle 4.” If she succeeds, she’ll be the third woman to ever achieve this level of climbing difficulty.
