Mountainfilm is dedicated to educating and inspiring audiences, but another motivation underlies our mission: We want to help promote action toward positive change. One way to do that is to facilitate involvement between Mountainfilm audiences and important causes. Here are some ways you can take action now:

2 Rivers East
Take ActionFounded in 2003 within days of the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime, 2rivers East is an award-winning nonprofit production and training organization. We work across film, television and online with an emphasis on international collaboration between MENA (Middle East and North Africa) and the rest of the world. We train young filmmakers and storytellers from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds. We bring their skillset up to international standards, offer them mentoring and work placements and empower them to tell their own stories to global audiences.
America Remembers Fund
Take ActionIn America: Remember was a public art exhibition conceived and installed by artist Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg on nearly 20 acres of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. At its closing on October 3, 2021, over 700,000 white flags were waving at the base of the Washington Monument, with each flag honoring the life lost in America because of COVID-19. Given its scale, the project was the largest public participatory art installation on the Mall since the AIDS quilt. The visual moment allowed people to reflect on the tragedy suffered by our nation. It provided the community with the opportunity to honor individual lives shortened by COVID-19.
California Black Women's Health Project
Take ActionThe California Black Women's Health Project is the only statewide, non-profit organization that is solely committed to improving the health of California's 1.2 million Black women and girls through advocacy, education, outreach and policy. We focus on empowering Black women to take personal responsibility for their own health and to advocate for changes in policies that negatively affect Black women's health status.
Camping to Connect
Take ActionCamping to Connect is a Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) led experiential mentorship program that uses nature-based outdoor recreation to address the diverse issues faced by young men of BIPOC communities.
Densho
Take ActionDensho is an online archive and public history organization whose mission is to preserve and share the history of the WWII incarceration of Japanese Americans to promote equity and justice today. Our public website offers irreplaceable firsthand accounts, coupled with a vast digital archive and educational resources. Founded in 1996, Densho is a trailblazer in the use of digital technology to preserve and share historical materials. Densho views Japanese American history within a longer trajectory of American racism, xenophobia, and scapegoating in order to speak out against injustices both past and present.
Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation
Take ActionThe Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation works to tell the stories of the over 14,000 Japanese Americans unjustly incarcerated in Wyoming during World War II. The Foundation preserves the site of the former concentration camp and operates an award-winning museum, Heart Mountain Interpretive Center, on the grounds. We aim to educate about this dark chapter in American history, to emphasize the fragility of democracy, and to inspire the public to fight to uphold liberty and civil rights for all in the present day.
Helem
Take ActionHelem, is the first LGBTQIA+ rights organization in the Arab world, officially established in Beirut, Lebanon in 2001. Its mission is to lead the struggle for the liberation of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Intersex, Transgendered, Queer (LGBTQIA+) and other people with non-conforming sexualities and/or gender identities in Lebanon and the SWANA region from all sorts of violations of their individual and collective civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights. Our goal is to empower young LGBTQIA+ leaders to advocate for their own liberation. We seek to create initiatives and spaces where our communities can leverage unity through diversity and build power. We protect and support individuals with the resources to resist the harm caused by homophobia and transphobia. We empower our youth through education and community building, and we mobilize to change the laws, policies, and practices that deny us equality and reduce our quality of life.

Justice Outside
Take ActionJustice Outside is a national nonprofit that is transforming the outdoor and environmental movement by shifting resources to, building power with, and centering the voices and leadership of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Programming includes grantmaking, organizational anti-racism training, career pathway development, and capacity building — all aimed at achieving systemic change. Ma’s House & BIPOC Art Studio Inc.
Take ActionMa’s House & BIPOC Art Studio Inc. is led by Indigenous artist Jeremy Dennis. The project began in June 2020 and serves as a communal art space based on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation in Southampton, New York. The family house, built in the 1960s, features a residency program for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), art studio, library, along with hosting an array of art and history-based programs for tribe members and the broader local community. A not-for-profit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, Ma’s House & BIPOC Art Studio Inc. was chartered in 2021 in the State of New York.

PALAWAN NGO NETWORK INCORPORATED
Take ActionThe Palawan NGO Network Inc. (PNNI) was organized in November 1991 by mainstream Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and People's Organization (POs) in Palawan with the motivation of presenting a broader NGO consensus that would carry more weight in the policy making process in various local government units in the province.

Restore Hetch Hetchy

At times, Aguilas rescues crossers in distress, at times it searches for the remains of a loved one whose life was claimed by the desert. Since 1996, over 7,000 migrants have died in the deserts along our border. Since Aguilas began in 2012, it has rescued 92 people and recovered the remains of 92 people.

Take ActionThe Ajo Samaritans is a local humanitarian aid group that works to prevent death in the desert. We are diverse individuals of conscience and faith united to relieve suffering and save lives of people crossing Arizona’s desert. We travel roads and trails of Southern Arizona distributing water and food and providing first aid when necessary. We secure emergency aid and rescue for those in severe distress, and we reinforce migrants’ sense of dignity. By our presence, we witness our commitment to human rights for all, even the stranger among us.

Take Action#breakfreefromplastic is a global movement envisioning a future free from plastic pollution. Since its launch in September 2016, nearly 1,900 organizations from across the world have joined the movement to demand massive reductions in single-use plastics and to push for lasting solutions to the plastic pollution crisis. Captains for Clean Water
Take ActionCaptains For Clean Water is a grassroots nonprofit organization advocating for clean water and healthy estuaries across Florida. We started out as a group of fishing guides that “had enough” of Florida’s poor water management practices. Given the destruction seen firsthand, we were convinced that if everyone knew what we knew, the problem would have been already fixed. We discovered, the solution has been delayed for decades because of a lack of political will and public awareness.
Carousel of Happiness

The Carousel has served the Nederland community and visitors from around the world since 2010, providing almost 1 million rides and inspiring at least that many smiles. We think happiness is important and we believe every smile here turns into countless more beyond our doors.
Casa de Paz
Take ActionCasa de Paz began in 2012 as a small, one-bedroom apartment offering hospitality to families separated by immigrant detention. Today, Casa de Paz provides visits and emotional support, shelter and meals, access to phones, WiFi, computers and transportation. Detention is a difficult time that tears families apart and creates a financial burden, so we have always offered our services free of cost. Since we first opened our doors we’ve hosted over 2,800 immigrants from seventy three countries and the need only continues to grow.

Take ActionColorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR) is a community-rooted nonprofit organization that works to enable Latinx individuals and their families to lead safe, healthy, and self-determined lives. Especially now, COLOR works to ensure that Latinx individuals and their families are accessing opportunities and resources for the health of their mind, body, and spirit. COLOR continues its reproductive justice work amid the COVID-19 outbreak and has recently expanded to creating resources and bilingual information on the coronavirus to share with the Latinx, immigrant, and undocumented communities in Colorado.

Take ActionThis Colorado Public Lands Day, it’s more clear than ever before that our lands, waters, and wildlife are critical pieces of Colorado’s economy and public health. That’s why we’re asking our federal and state leaders to invest in our lands, waters, and wildlife as part of the COVID-19 recovery efforts. The “Great American Outdoors Act” will provide much-needed funding for our national parks and public lands ranging from the desert and mountain backcountry to local parks. Our lands and waters depend on this funding but we need your help to see this bill passed through Congress.
