The Architects of Winter

As climate change pushes winter’s arrival later each year, snowmakers are on the front lines of fighting for snow. After an injury prevents Zack Saiz-Hawes from teaching snowboarding, he switches to working nights at Aspen Snowmass Ski Resort to bring the ski season into being. Always adjusting for the perfect ratio of water and air pressure to produce snowflakes, the job is cold, wet, potentially dangerous, but an ultimately rewarding and crucial part of the mountain community.
