Overview

More than eight million Venezuelans have fled the country in the largest displacement crisis in the Western Hemisphere. Many of these immigrants are highly educated, but are forced to work low-wage jobs in their new lives in the U.S., a phenomenon academics call “brain waste.” This film offers a snapshot in the life of the director’s mother, a Venezuelan lawyer, civil servant and painter, who now works a housekeeping job in New Orleans.
