Overview

Paul Iwasaki was raised in Salt Lake City’s Japantown, a vibrant enclave that became a refuge for Japanese Americans released from wartime incarceration. In the 1960s, the city razed the neighborhood for urban renewal, displacing families and leaving few sanctuaries standing. Japantown: What is Lost, What Remains is a portrait of memory as resistance and the story of a single voice trying to keep a vanished community alive.
