Are You Native?

As a child in the ’90s, Shauna White Bear (MHA Nation: Arikara/Hidatsa) turned her family’s camcorder on herself, recording private thoughts about school, family and what it felt like to carry a name that made her stand out. Now a moccasin maker in her 40s, she revisits that footage and begins responding to the girl on tape. What unfolds is a conversation across time between a young girl trying to understand who she is and the woman she becomes.
