Named by the National Geographic Society as one of the Explorers for the Millenium, Wade Davis has been described as “a rare combination of scientist, scholar, poet and passionate defender of all of life’s diversity.” The Canadian anthropologist has long been fueled by curiosity about the worldwide web of belief and ritual that makes us human, and his work has taken him from East Africa to Borneo, Nepal, Polynesia, Colombia and Mongolia. The photographer, writer and filmmaker holds degrees in anthropology and biology and received his Ph.D. in ethnobotany, all from Harvard University. He has authored 22 books and is currently a professor of anthropology at the University of British Columbia.
