Tom Swartwout

Tom Swartwout is an editor, producer and director of feature and documentary films. His career led him to the cutting room of Hollywood editor Sam O’Steen, and he was later Sidney Lumet’s editor, working on such films as Find Me Guilty and Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, as well as the television series “100 Centre Street.” Swartwout also edited and produced numerous feature films, TV series and television documentaries for PBS, HBO, Discovery and The History Channel. He began working with The Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Multimedia Production group to make science and conservation films. He is the director of Paradise Found (Mountainfilm 2013), which chronicles the nine-year quest of two men to find and document all 39 species of New Guinea’s mythical birds of paradise. Along with Tim Laman, he co-directed Hunting the Helmeted Hornbill (Mountainfilm 2019).
