Susan Dalton

MOUNTAINFILM BOARD EMERITUS

Susan Dalton is a native of Michigan, and coincidently shares some history with Telluride as she descends from Finnish miners that settled in the Upper Peninsula to work in the copper mines. She and her family first arrived in Telluride in 1986 as second-homeowners. Susan owned and operated two local businesses on Main Street, Cadeaux – a home furnishings and gift store, and Jagged Edge, now owned and operated by her son, Erik Dalton. Susan became a Telluride resident in 2004 when her son Chris Dalton entered Telluride High School as a sophomore. She decided that her vote counted in Telluride and the state of Colorado much more than it did in suburban New York City. She is very proud to call Telluride ‘home’ and believes that Mountainfilm echoes the values and concerns of the Telluride community. She served on the Board of Directors of Mountainfilm for eight years and now serves as a Board Member Emeritus, an honor that she cherishes. Susan’s new career is as an author of Colorado history books. Her first book, Telluride: A Silver Past, A Golden Future, tells the story of the transformation of a pure and pristine valley into a 21st century resort destination. Her second book, Durango: A Silver Past, A Golden Future, has been greeted with enthusiasm by the community of Durango. She is currently working on the third book, Denver: A Silver Past, A Golden Future in her series about iconic Colorado towns that began as mining districts.
