Climber and community builder Shelma Jun has transformed the way women climb. Discouraged by the exclusive vibe she found in the outdoor world, Jun founded Flash Foxy and the Women's Climbing Festival to support women through climbing. Today, she remains focused on bringing people together and sharing their stories — from documenting cyclists of color in New York City to building a temporary community art park in the Lower East Side. A current board member of the Access Fund, rock climbing advocacy group, Jun was named one of 40 women who’ve made the biggest impact in the outdoor world by Outside magazine. A gifted leader, she has written, spoken and presented on the importance of creating a climbing community that reflects and welcomes everyone. Jun recently directed her first film Do Better Together (Mountainfilm 2020).
