Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami

A native of Tehran, Iran, Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami is a writer and filmmaker who studied animation at Tehran Art University. Her documentaries include Cyanosis and Going up the Stairs, and she is the recipient of more than 20 international awards. Gharem’s film Sonita (Mountainfilm 2016) tells the story of an ambitious 18-year-old Afghan refugee in a Tehran shelter whose dream is to be a famous rapper.
