Richard Ladkani

Director and Cinematographer Richard Ladkani has made multiple award-winning feature documentaries, including his 2016 Netflix Original,The Ivory Game. Executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and co-directed by Kief Davidson, the investigative thriller-doc about the illegal ivory trade was shortlisted for an Academy Award. In 2015, Ladkani and his wife Anita founded Malaika Pictures to produce films that spotlight the most pressing environmental and political issues facing the world today. Among his most renowned films are Escape Over the Himalayas, about the plight of Tibetan children fleeing their homeland, The Devil’s Miner, a harrowing look at Bolivian silver mines, Jane’s Journey, a portrait of Jane Goodall that was shortlisted for an Academy Award and Gas Monopoly, a political thriller-doc about Europe’s dependence on Russian gas. His is the director of Sea of Shadows (Mountainfilm 2019).
