Raj Patel

A winner of the James Beard Foundation’s Leadership Award, Raj Patel is an author, researcher and professor of economics, public affairs and humanities who works at universities in Texas and South Africa. Patel once worked at the World Bank and World Trade Organization, later protesting against them and providing government testimony about the global food crisis. In addition to authoring four books, he has written for the Guardian, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle and The New York Times, among others. Patel also directed the feature documentary The Ants & The Grasshopper (Mountainfilm 2021).
