Molly Ferrill

Photographer, writer and filmmaker Molly Ferrill has traveled around the world to tell stories about the changing relationship between people and nature. Based in Southeast Asia, Ferrill received a National Geographic Young Explorers grant to document the unique relationship between people and elephants in Myanmar, where the landscape is changing quickly because of rapid development. Ferrill’s work on the changing situation for both wild and domesticated elephants is particularly interesting because of the elephants’ prominent role in Burmese history, industry and religion. Both her photography and writing have been featured in National Geographic magazine, and she has also contributed to National Geographic Television, The Discovery Channel, Voice of America and Channel News Asia. Ferrill also works with the counter-trafficking organization Freeland to document international human and wildlife trafficking issues.
