Mirjam Marks

Mirjam Marks began her career in the youth department of a Dutch broadcaster. She gained her experience in research and production, specialized in youth productions. While visiting Suriname for a production, she fell in love with the country and moved there with her family. She has filmed documentaries for Dutch television and initiated several workshops for kids in Suriname. Back in The Netherlands, she continues her work as documentary filmmaker and serves as Head of Television at Cinekid and is an advisor at the Dutch Media Fund. Marks’ latest short Julieta & the Turtles in the Plastic Soup (Mountainfilm 2022) follows 14-year-old Julieta in her quest to rescue sea turtles on her home island of Curaçao.
