Mike Douglas is known as the “Godfather of Freeskiing” for his many contributions to the industry, which include designing the first twin-tip ski. Over the years, Douglas has brought many short adventure films to Mountainfilm, including The Freedom Chair (Mountainfilm 2012), Tempting Fear and The Burn (both Mountainfilm 2013). As the founder of Switchback Entertainment, Douglas has worked on more than 100 productions and is behind the web series “Salomon TV.” One of the episodes, /node/1653SuperMom (Mountainfilm 2014), focuses on aging Crested Butte freeskier Wendy Fisher, who is stomping huge lines in Whistler, Canada and Portillo, Chile, in her 40s. And Ruapehu (Mountainfilm 2015) brought Douglas to New Zealand and the volcanoes of Tongariro National Park. Guilt Trip (Mountainfilm 2017) shed light on the impact of climate change on the ski world, while Night of the Turn (both Mountainfilm 2020) follows skiers charging hard in dreamy conditions.
