Mike Douglas is known as the “Godfather of Freeskiing” for his two decades of contributions to the industry, which include designing the first twin-tip ski. As the founder of Switchback Media, Douglas has worked on more than 100 productions and is behind the web series “Salomon Freeski TV.” One of his 12 episodes for season seven of the series, SuperMom (Mountainfilm 2014), focuses on aging Crested Butte freeskier Wendy Fisher, who is still stomping huge lines in Whistler, Canada and Portillo, Chile, in her forties. The series took Douglas and friends to New Zealand and the volcanoes of Tongariro National Park in the epsiode Ruapehu (Mountainfilm 2015). Douglas has brought short adventure films to Mountainfilm since 2010, including a popular film about sit-skier Josh Dueck, The Freedom Chair (Mountainfilm 2012), as well as Tempting Fear and The Burn (both Mountainfilm 2013). After decades in the industry it was time to take a long, hard look at the impact of climate change on the ski world, so Douglas and crew bring a climate scientist along with them on their expedition in the film Guilt Trip (Mountainfilm 2017).
