Mikael Salomon

Mikael Salomon is a cinematographer, director and producer of film and television. His films The Abyss (1989) and Backdraft (1991) earned him two Academy Award nominations. On the latter film, he shot for director Ron Howard, later working with Howard on Far and Away (1992). As a director, Salomon has worked on several television series, including “Band of Brothers,” “Rome” and “The Fugitive.” His latest short film, Shine (Instrument of Hope) (Mountainfilm 2020) chronicles the historic recording sessions that took place in 2019 to create a new version of the song "Shine," the anthem written by student survivors of the Parkland, Florida mass shooting.
