Matthew Rosenberg

Matthew Rosenberg is a correspondent for The New York Times and is based in Washington, D.C. He covered Afghanistan until 2014 when he was expelled from the country at the order of President Hamid Karzai. It was the first expulsion of a Western journalist since the Taliban ruled Afghanistan. Prior to joining The Times, Rosenberg was a correspondent for The Wall Street Journal and was part of their team that covered the 2008 attack on Mumbai. Previously, he worked for The Associated Press, reporting from South Asia, the Middle East, East Africa and the Caribbean. Rosenberg was born in New York and graduated from McGill University in Montreal.
