Matt Morris

Matt Morris stumbled into documentary filmmaking after college when he discovered a barbershop in rural North Carolina where the barbers had cut hair for six decades and bluegrass musicians jammed in the back room. Since then, he continues to find interesting subjects for his films. In 2008, he produced and directed Pickin' and Trimmin' (Mountainfilm 2008), a documentary short that was an official selection of over two dozen international film festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand and Aspen Shortsfest. The film has won seven awards, including Best Documentary Short at the Woodstock and Florida film festivals. The short Watermelon Man premiered at the Florida Film Festival in 2010, and Mr. Happy Man (Mountainfilm 2011) has become an online favorite short. His latest film is American Tintype (Mountainfilm 2013).
