Mariano Carranza

Mariano Carranza is a documentary director, producer and cinematographer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born and raised in Lima, Peru, he moved to New York at the age of 18 to attend film school at NYU. Mariano has traveled the world covering music, travel, art, food, culture, drugs and everything in between. He’s been a staff filmmaker at CNN’s Great Big Story since 2016. Prior to CNN he worked at VICE for five years. Carranza’s work, which includes Cracking Ice Ceilings (Mountainfilm 2019), is edgy and original.
