LeeAnne Walters is a mother and former medical assistant who led the citizens’ movement that tested the water in Flint, Michigan — ultimately exposing the city’s water crisis. Her persistence compelled the local, state and federal governments to take action, ensuring that Flint’s residents get access to clean water. For her work, she was awarded the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize, which honors grassroots environmental heroes around the world.
