Josh Borof

Local climber and owner of Onsight Builders Inc., Josh Borof has lived in Telluride since 1990. Borof began his climbing career on the Ophir Wall with the likes of Charlie Fowler and former Mountainfilm director Bill Kees. His mentors taught him to climb in the old “leader must not fall” style, leaving Borof scared stiff for much of his adult life. Borof has established first ascents in Alaska, the Utah desert and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and has climbed over 50 towers in the desert southwest. Having previously contributed to Mountainfilm on film projects, he is returning to Mountainfilm this year as a Charlie Fowler Award judge, hoping to do his old friend justice. As vice president of the Telluride Mountain Club, Borof has been working to name a local mountain in the nearby Wilson range after Fowler.
