Filmmaker, photographer and journalist, Joe Berlinger has been making award-winning documentaries since 1989. He doesn’t shy away from tackling challenging or politically incorrect subject matter. His film Brother’s Keeper, one of the most successful self-distributed documentaries ever made, looked at assisted suicide. Paradise Lost deals with a horrific murder case, and it actually uncovered the innocence of three teenagers convicted in the case. Berlinger followed the story in two sequels, the second of which, Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory (released in early 2012), was nominated for Best Documentary at the 84th Academy Awards.
