Jenny Schweitzer Bell

New York City-based director and producer Jenny Schweitzer Bell is driven by stories of identity, culture and social injustice. After 15 years of producing and managing narrative feature films, Bell decided to begin directing. Her short documentaries have premiered with powerhouse publications like The New York Times and National Geographic. Short docs like The Blessings of Aging (2018) and Journey to Justice (2019) feature Bell’s passion for the marginalized and her commitment to lending them a voice. Her most current work jumps to the other end of life’s trajectory: children. The Magic of Chess (Mountainfilm 2020) follows several youth as they share their uninhibited, philosophical insights about the benefits of chess. The film received a “Best of the Year” nomination at the 2020 Vimeo Film Awards. Bell returns to Mountainfilm to world premiere her film Beneath Our Feet (Mountainfilm 2022).
