Jamie Margolin

Co-founder and co-executive director of the youth climate action organization Zero Hour, Jamie Margolin often uses writing as a platform to educate people about the climate crisis. Frustrated by the inaction of elected officials, Margolin turned her written word into a movement when she founded Zero Hour with a few friends as a means of amplifying young voices. Her efforts were sparked by the response she saw to Puerto Rico’s Hurricane Maria as well as her personal experience with the Washington wildfires of 2017. Margolin’s current work includes Zero Hour’s Getting to the Roots Campaign, which aims to educate communities around the world on the systems of oppression — capitalism, racism, sexism and colonialism — and their impact on climate change.
