After growing up in Austria, it’s no surprise that Jakob Schweighofer headed for the mountains. Discovering climbing, mountaineering and skiing when he was 15, he later became a professional mountain guide. To record his many adventures, he turned to a camera and instantly fell in love with filmmaking and photography. Since then, he hasn’t stopped following his passions, traveling to some of the world’s most remote areas to document expeditions, climb, ski and connect with people. Based in Innsbruck, Austria, he is a co-owner of Whiteroom Productions and the director of When Mountains Were Wild (Mountainfilm 2016).
