Based in Boulder, Colorado, Henna Taylor is a self-taught documentary filmmaker and principal owner of Henna Taylor Films. As a straight-A student, she dropped out of high school after sophomore year and left the U.S. to travel and learn as much as she could from direct experience. Faced by the inconvenient constraints of dyslexia and an insatiable desire to see as much of the world as possible, Henna began making short videos of her time living with four rural midwives in Cambodia. Over the next decade, her nonlinear relationship with filmmaking grew exponentially. She directed and filmed Valley of the Moon (Mountainfilm 2019) and wrote, directed, filmed, edited and produced six award-winning short documentary films, including Best Mountain Short Film for Speak to Me Softly at Banff 2019, and the 2018 Grand Jury Award for Wadi Rum at Yosemite International Film Festival. Her first feature-length documentary is An Accidental Life (Mountainfilm 2022).
