Helen Hood Scheer

Documentary filmmaker, professor and freelance producer Helen Hood Scheer has produced documentaries for HBO, PBS, A&E, National Geographic and other networks. Her award-winning film Jump!, about competitive jump roping, was acquired by Showtime. Both Jump! and The Apothecary were selected by the U.S. State Departments as part of the American Film Showcase, which travels to American embassies worldwide. Scheer served as archival producer for In Country, a documentary feature film about Vietnam War re-enactors that earned several honors, including a grant from the Sundance Institute and the Garrett Scott/Full Frame Award. Scheer lives in California and teaches film and TV studio production at Diablo Valley College and documentary production at Chapman University.
