Offering an unprecedented glimpse into the world of spinal cord injuries, Fernando Villena’s Any One of Us (Mountainfilm 2019) illuminates the inspiring journey of Paul Basagoitia, a professional mountain biker reckoning with a paralyzing injury. His excruciating recovery unfolds in real time through raw, intimate footage — much of which was filmed by Paul himself. Though this film marks Villena’s directorial debut, he is also an accomplished editor with two decades of experience on feature films and documentaries. His credits include Crank: High Voltage, Rize and Every Little Step, and he’s worked with such notable directors as Davis Guggenheim, Marc Webb and Michel Gondry.
