Dr. Shirley Jackson Whitaker

Dr. Shirley Jackson Whitaker is an accomplished community health provider, educator, visual artist and performance artist. She studied medicine at Yale University and Emory University, obtaining her medical degree in 1979, and has worked extensively in community health, outreach and education. She is also a performer and painter who organized a ceremony to honor the many victims of lynching in America. She is the subject of Ashes to Ashes (Mountainfilm 2019).
