Douglas Kass

Douglas Kass is an adjunct professor of filmmaking and film studies at Elon University. His short film work includes Behind the Walls of S-21, a look at the notorious Cambodian prison during the Khmer Rouge era. His first feature-length documentary takes viewers to the Mediterranean, where poachers are illegally decimating songbird populations. Based on a 2010 New Yorker article by Jonathan Franzen, Emptying the Skies was filmed over the course of one year during which Kass embedded with a group of bird protectors who worked to free as many birds as possible.
