Dominic Gill
Television host, director and co-founder at Encompass Films in Los Angeles, California, Dominic Gill has always had his eyes set on adventure. After studying biology at Imperial College London and working at an environmental consulting firm, he decided to pursue his dreams, so he bought a tandem bicycle, a heavy production camera and a machete before flying to the oil fields in Northern Alaska. Pedaling south, he invited strangers along the way to ride with him, and two years and two months later he made it to the southerly tip of Argentina, the topic of his award-winning documentary and book Take a Seat. His film Above the Alley, Beneath the Sky (Mountainfilm 2015), took viewers to the favelas of Rio to tell the story of a climbing instructor on a quest to build a youth outreach climbing program. His film Climbing out of a Disaster (Mountainfilm 2018) continues the tradition of telling climbing stories with depth. He is also the director of On A Wing and A Prayer (Mountainfilm 2019).
